　　Thanks to the rapid progress of globalization, to develop international perspective has become an essential quality of modern people. To have better understanding of this world, people opt for different ways, mainly including travel, books, films and Internet. In my mind, travel is a better option to learn culture and people of a new place.

　　Admittedly, it is economical and efficient for people to know a new place from books, films and Internet without leaving the city they dwell in. By simply typing in the name of a place in search engine, we are able to find numerous websites offering detailed information, such as news, geography, culture, architecture, etc. Also, on the screen, exotic culture is vividly displayed in films. Through people’s conversation and behaviors, we will have a clear picture of their culture and life. If all these are not enough, there are professional books, like Longly Planet, from which more detailed information is available.

　　However, by traveling people obtain irreplaceable first hand experience of a new place. What people have experienced by themselves usually leaves deep impression in mind and is unique to themselves. In contrast, what people read and watch from other sources is edited information which contains others’ thoughts or even bias. Moreover, traveling to one place, people can talk to local people, taste local food, take local transportation, visit museums, etc. In a word, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. There is much information that is ignored by others but waits tourists to explore by themselves. All these help people know well about a place.

　　To sum up, although people can easily acquire much information about culture and people in a new place from books, films and Internet, a better way is to experience by themselves by traveling to that place.
