　　later的用法

　　1. 用作形容詞和副詞 late 的比較級。如：

　　It’s rather later than I thought. 這比我想的還要晚。

　　He left home later than usual. 他比平常還晚離家。

　　2. 用于一段具體時間之后，表示從過去或?qū)硭闫鸬亩嚅L時間以后，但通常不指從現(xiàn)在算起的多久以后。如：

　　誤：I’ll call again a week later.(可改為…in a week)

　　正：I called again a week later. 一周后我又打了電話。

　　正：I’ll call her on March 5 and will call again a week later. 我將在3月5日給她打個電話，過一周后我將再打個電話。

　　但是later單獨使用(即不連用具體時間)，可以表示從現(xiàn)在算起的“以后”(具有泛指意義)。如：

　　Let’s stop now and finish it later. 現(xiàn)在停下來，以后再完成它。

　　He may be busy, in which case I’ll call later. 他可能忙，如若如此，我以后再來拜訪。

　　3. 用于 later on，表示“以后”“后來”，可用于過去或?qū)怼Ｈ纾?/p>

　　We’ll discuss the matter later on. 我們以后將討論這件事。
