The chart shows the percentage of drugs taken by girls and boys in a school in New Zealand.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words.

The bar chart illustrates information on the quantity of drugs school children in New Zealand take, divided by gender and measured in percentages. Overall, it is immediately apparent that hashish or marijuana is used more than any of the other drugs, whereasLSD is used the least. At first glance we can see that boys take more drugs than girls for 6 out of 7 of the drugs listed, however an equal number of boys and girls take cocaine.

To begin with, boys use more hashish or marijuana than girls at around 33% and 29% respectively. Following this, boys take heroin, opium or morphine at approximately 8%, but girls 10. at only 5%.

On the other hand, the numbers for amphetamines and solvents are similar for both boys and girls at 2% and 3% for girls and 4% for both drugs for boys. Next, the pattern for LSD and medical drugs is exactly the same for both genders at 1% for girls and 3% for boys. Finally, boys and girls take cocaine at the same level, 4%.

Being well-organised

Task：As the transportation and accommodation problem increases in big cities, some governments are encouraging business move from the city to the rural area, do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample answer：

It is sometimes argued that some business should be removed from cities to rural areas. Personally, I believe this has more benefits than drawbacks.

Firstly, suburbs usually have better surroundings than urban areas. This is because companies can provide their employees with a better office environment and living condition there, which would enhance employees’ enthusiasm for work. In addition, a comfortable office environment and living condition can decrease frequency of talent-flowing and ensure companies’ development.

Secondly, migrating some business to rural areas will make our cities a better place to live in. Large factory buildings will cover urban places extensively. If businesses relocate their factories to rural areas, these places can be used to build roads, parks, hospitals and other public facilities, and there might be less traffic jam in the rush hour. At the same time, governments can plant more greenery to reduce air pollution. As a result, it provides citizens with better air quality, which is beneficial for their health.

However, we have to admit that this policy still exist some disadvantages. Although moving some business to rural areas can ease traffic problems, it will increase the cost of transportation for those who live in the remote areas. Besides, the ecosystem in rural areas is quite fragile, the over-exploration may cause irreversible damage to our environment if we fail to provide some reasonable plans.

In conclusion, I believe that moving some business to rural areas will bring more advantages.

Task：Many people do not feel safe either at home or they are out. What are the causes, and what can be done to make people feel safer?

Sample answer：

Security is always a frequently talked topic in the modern society. Looking into the factors leading to dangers helps people to protect themselves from insecurity. This essay will mainly analyze the reasons for this problem and provide some solutions.

There are two main factors contributing to the phenomenon that more people feel insecure. In general, the detailed description of violence on the mass media should be responsible for this problem. When criminal cases such as shooting, theft and driving after drinking are often reported on the TV, the viewers’ safety and security will probably be threatened and they will be in the belief that they are likely to subject to offenses at anytime. This problem can also be attributed to the widespread use of mobile devices. With more applications installed in people’s smart phones, they save too many secrets on this device--the online bank passwords and the information of their social network which may include significant business opportunities. It is not exaggerated that their lives and property will be threatened if they lose their precious mobile devices.

To solve this problem, governments, police stations and citizens themselves should cooperate with each other. First of all, the government should impose a restriction on the representation of crimes, reducing the plots focusing on the detailed description. The governments and police stations needs to set up a security system, through which citizens’ personal information can be prevented from being stolen. It is also of great essence that citizens should raise the awareness of security.

As mentioned above, the occurrence of crime on the mass media and the storage of personal information on mobile devices are the main reasons for insecurity. Governments, police stations and citizens should make a concerted effort to address this issue.

Task：In some countries, more and more adults are continuing to live with their parents even after they have completed education and found jobs. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Nowadays, an increasing number of adults choose to live with their parents after finishing their academic tasks and finding jobs. The overall effect of this phenomenon is negative, although the younger generation can get much help from their parents.

It is widely acknowledged that living with parents contributes to relieve young adults’ strains and stresses. They bear great pressure from their work and study, and are not willing to adapt to an independent life. The parents, especially the retired adults, are always ready to prepare everything for their children, helping them to concentrate on their work. In addition, young people can learn much experience from their parents who are more experienced in dealing with interpersonal relationships and career development. As a new comer in the working arena, the young generation are too na?ve to manage their various challenges. Undoubtedly, it is of great value for them to live with their parents.

On the other hand, continuing to live with parents will unavoidably cause some conflicts. Growing up in two different times, the views and lifestyles between these two generations are less likely to be the same. With the passage of time, the family bond will be alienated. What’s worse, if the adults lead a life with parents for a long time, they are particularly likely to have a sentimental attachment to their parents excessively. It will be increasingly difficult for them to start a new life when their parents cannot provide help any longer. It is detrimental for forming a new family in the future.

When considering the effects of living with parents on young generation, we can conclude that this lifestyle is not universally suitable for every individual. As to most young people, they had better to live independently in order to keep a harmonious relation with parents and a balance between work and life.
