名詞water是可數(shù)的嗎
一、water不可數(shù)
water表示“水”，是物質(zhì)名詞，不可數(shù)。如：
Please remember to water the plants while I’m away. 我不在時(shí)，請(qǐng)記住澆花。
The water in the lake is so clear that you can see the bottom. 湖水清澈見底。
A block in the pipe was preventing the water from coming through. 管道中的東西堵住了水流。
As water begins to boil, bubbles rise ever faster to the surface. 水開了，氣泡更快地升上水面。
We’ll take the boat out into deep water where we can dive. 我們要把小船劃進(jìn)我們可以跳水的深水區(qū)域。
The water in the lake is not particularly deep, averaging about 12 metres. 湖水不是很深，平均約為12米。

二、water用復(fù)數(shù)
但是，注意，water 雖然表示“水”時(shí)不可數(shù)，但在某些特殊情況下可用復(fù)數(shù)。如：

A great poem is a fountain forever overflowing with the waters of wisdom and delight. 一首偉大的詩篇猶如一座噴泉，永遠(yuǎn)噴出智慧和歡樂的水花。
注意，take [drink] the waters 為固定搭配，指喝礦泉水治療或到礦泉?jiǎng)俚丿燄B(yǎng)。如：
He is taking [drinking] the waters at Bath. 他在巴斯進(jìn)行礦泉治療。
3. 表示某國的“近海”“海域”“領(lǐng)海”時(shí)，可以用復(fù)數(shù)。如：
The government is allowing the areas of inshore coastal waters to be explored for oil and gas. 當(dāng)局允許在近海海域勘探石油和天然氣。
The two countries are in dispute over the boundaries of their coastal waters. 兩國在近海水域分界線上尚存分歧。
Other nations are forbidden to fish the waters within 200 miles of the coast. 其他國家被禁止在離岸200英里的海域內(nèi)捕魚。
4. 表示“洪水”等大量的水時(shí)，可以用復(fù)數(shù)。如：
The flood waters subsided. 洪水退了。
Flood waters swept everything from their path. 洪水沿路沖走了一切。
People spoke of their fear as the floor waters rose. 人們說起看到洪水上漲時(shí)的恐懼。
DCS: The dam broke because there was no outlet for the flood waters. 由于那大壩上沒有泄洪口，大壩決口了。
5. 表示幾條不同河流或海域的水，習(xí)慣上要用復(fù)數(shù)。如：
The waters of the two rivers mingled (together) to form one river. 兩條河匯合成一條。
6. 在某些固定表達(dá)中，可以用復(fù)數(shù)。如：
in smooth water(s) 進(jìn)展順利，一帆風(fēng)順
